Germany's labor agency said on Tuesday seasonally adjusted unemployment fell by
1,000 in June versus economists' median forecast for a 7,000 rise. Unadjusted
jobless numbers dropped to 2.984 mln, below the 3.0 mln mark. The seasonally
adjusted unemployment rate held at 6.3%. Labor agency head Andrea Nahles said
the labor market shows little change: unemployment edged down while employment
covered by social security contributions continued a slight decline. Economists
warned unemployment could rise in coming months as firms delay workforce
adjustments amid geopolitical shocks such as the Iran conflict. Registered
vacancies in June totaled 648,000, up 16,000 YoY.
