The National Energy Administration released the China Power Supply Development
Report 2026, saying China has built the world’s largest power supply system with
full urban–rural coverage. In 2025 national electricity consumption surpassed 10
tln kWh and electricity users approached 800 mln; the sector operates about
99,000 local service outlets and employs over 560,000 staff. The report frames a
shift in power services from basic supply toward a ‘quality experience’.
