As part of South Korea's President Lee flagship industrial strategy, Samsung
Group and SK Group are preparing to announce an investment program of up to
2,000 trillion won (about $1.3tn) over the next decade. Reports say Samsung and
SK Hynix would each build four to five semiconductor fabs in Gwangju. Samsung
also plans a chip packaging plant in Chungcheongnam-do; SK Hynix is set to
expand a NAND plant in Chungcheongbuk-do.
