Wahaha said in a unified statement that, due to packaging cost volatility, it
has adjusted channel wholesale prices across different pack sizes with some
increases and some decreases to stabilize dealers’ operations. The company said
terminal retail prices are unchanged and consumer purchase prices will not
change. Earlier reports said Wahaha and China Resources Beverage notified
distributors that, effective July 1, Wahaha purified water (596ml×24) supply
price would rise 0.5–1 yuan per carton and China Resources Yibao bulk water
(18.9L) would rise 1 yuan per drum; both companies cited higher PET plastic
packaging costs as the main driver.
