The International Maritime Organization said it is temporarily suspending an
evacuation operation for vessels and seafarers stranded in the Gulf of Oman
after a cargo ship was struck by unidentified aerial objects near Omani waters
on Thursday. A US official blamed Iran for the attack and said Washington is
investigating. IMO Secretary-General Domingues said the pause will allow
authorities to reconfirm the evacuation list and verify security measures for
all ships in the area. A US official added that President Trump has said Iran
must not be allowed to disrupt freedom of navigation.
