Barclays economists say June Tokyo CPI appears to match the Bank of Japan's
projections, clearing the path for a rate hike in October and a further move in
April 2027. "We expect inflation to genuinely accelerate from this summer," they
said, adding the BOJ is likely to wait to confirm that core inflation excluding
special factors are accelerating and that inflation expectations are rising
before the next tightening step.
