The International Maritime Organization on the 23rd launched an evacuation plan for more than 11,000 seafarers stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. Secretary-General Domingues said the IMO will coordinate with Iran, Oman, the United States and the shipping industry, has secured required safety guarantees and completed checks of navigation conditions to enable the operation, and welcomed a US‑Iran memorandum of understanding as an important step toward Restoring regional maritime security and ending attacks on civilian vessels.
