Guangzhou Railway Bureau said it transported 6.992 mln passengers during the 2026 Dragon Boat holiday (June 19-21), up 82,000 passengers or 1.2% YoY, a record for the period. Peak flow was on June 19 with 2.905 mln passengers; a return peak occurred on June 21 and flows remained elevated. Travel was dominated by family visits and tourism, with student and business travel secondary; patterns showed concentrated departures on day one, steady mid-holiday movement and an orderly return. Short- and medium-distance trips accounted for a large share, with highest demand on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area intercity services and intra-provincial routes in eastern and western Guangdong. Railway operations were reported safe and orderly throughout the holiday.
