The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) directed local regulators
during the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival to concentrate oversight on seasonal
hot‑selling foods and increased dining gatherings, focusing on key sectors,
supply links and venues while enforcing responsibilities and cracking down on
violations. Nationwide checks covered about 423,000 food producers and
operators, sampled roughly 15,200 batches of seasonal items including rice
dumplings, meat products and alcohol, and ordered remediation of about 36,800
identified food‑safety hazards.
