Israeli media reported on June 20 that the prime minister and defense minister
instructed the IDF to implement a ceasefire in Lebanon, but forces have not
withdraw from areas they control in south Lebanon. Prime Minister Netanyahu
reiterated the IDF will remain in south Lebanon “as long as necessary” and has
ordered forces to respond forcefully to any HEZBOLLAH attacks and to remove
threats to troops, Haaretz cited a security source. The source said policy in
the south is unchanged: over the past two days the IDF struck more than 300
HEZBOLLAH targets and killed about 100 HEZBOLLAH fighters, and will continue to
operate freely in its south Lebanon controlled areas to clear HEZBOLLAH military
infrastructure.
