CENTCOM said commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz rose on June 20 and
the waterway remained open, with 55 commercial vessels transiting and carrying
more than 17 million barrels of oil to global markets. US forces are operating
in the area to support freedom of navigation. The Joint Maritime Information
Center issued a notice this week confirming all ships can safely transit the
designated route, which is not subject to arbitrary fees or other impediments.
CENTCOM said US forces will remain present and vigilant to ensure an agreement
with Iran is fully observed and enforced.
