Tencent customer service said WeChat is running a limited gray-scale test of an
in-app AI assistant, Xiaowei. Xiaowei supports text and voice interaction to
operate WeChat native functions — e.g., adjust settings, send messages, place
calls — and currently uses multiple AI models, including Tencent’s own models
and high-quality open-source models. The gray test covers multiple systems;
participation eligibility is shown in the app.
