Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said on the 19th the government will
ban generative AI use by primary school pupils to prevent negative effects on
learning. Under the plan, children aged 6–13 will in principle be prohibited
from using AI tools; 14–16-year-olds may use them only under strict teacher
supervision; 17–19-year-old upper-secondary students will be taught appropriate
use to prepare for higher education and the workplace. The measures take effect
from the new school year starting at the end of August.
