Haikou border inspection authorities said that from 00:00 on 18 Dec 2025, when
the Hainan Free Trade Port began island-wide border-control operations, through
00:00 on 18 Jun 2026, cumulative border checks reached 1.654 million entries and
exits, up 31.2% YoY. Foreign nationals accounted for 913,000 entries/exits, up
36.1% YoY. Hainan said it continues to maintain the country’s most favorable
visa-free regime, allowing citizens of 86 countries to enter visa-free on
ordinary passports, and has expanded international air links to Northeast Asia,
Southeast Asia, Europe and Oceania. Authorities cited stronger inbound travel
for tourism, business, visiting family, medical services and conferences; main
source countries were Russia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
