TikTok plans to invest €1 billion ($1.16 billion) to build a second data center
in Lahti, Finland, with an initial capacity of 50 MW and potential to reach 128
MW, as part of its €12 billion European data sovereignty initiative covering
over 200 million users. The facility is expected to be operational by 2027,
following its first Finnish site in Kouvola due online by end-2026. The move
aims to localize European user data storage amid rising regulatory scrutiny.
