A senior Iranian official stated: "The fact that a power seeking hegemony has stooped to the point of disrupting the natural gas and electricity supplies of ordinary people signifies that it has fallen into an abyss of despair. The perpetrators of this atrocity should understand that depriving people of energy security is not a unilateral act. When the flames of confrontation spread to the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and the global economy is blocked, they will realize that the price of temporarily plunging Iranian families into darkness will be the darkness of the Western economy."
