China’s social steel inventories across five major products stood in 21 cities
at 11.42 million tons in late March, down 220,000 tons, or 1.9%, from the
previous period, according to the China Iron and Steel Association. Inventories
were up 58.4% from the start of the year and 10.2% higher year-on-year.
Regionally, most areas saw declines, led by South China in volume and North
China in percentage terms, while the northwest recorded the largest increase.
