At midday closing, most domestic futures contracts declined. Container shipping to Europe and SC crude oil fell nearly 13%, fuel oil fell over 11%, ethylene glycol (EG) fell nearly 9%, methanol, low-sulfur fuel oil (LU), and benzene fell over 8%, styrene (EB) fell over 7%, paraxylene (PX) fell over 6%, and PTA, asphalt, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and coking coal fell over 5%. On the upside, silver rose nearly 5%, palladium rose nearly 4%, gold rose over 3%, and platinum rose over 2%.
