According to Nikkei Asia, Intel and AMD have informed clients that CPU prices
will rise in March and April. The price increases come amid worsening supply
constraints for PCs and servers, driven by surging AI demand and memory ongoing
chip shortages. Lead times for CPUs have extended from 1–2 weeks to 8–12 weeks,
with some cases reaching six months, while average quote prices have already
climbed 10–15% this year. PC makers are increasingly turning to Arm-based CPUs
to mitigate shortages in mid-range X-86 chips.
