The National Hurricane Center said: "Hurricane Melissa is currently located about 265 miles (430 kilometers) southwest of Guantanamo, Cuba, with maximum sustained winds of 175 miles (280 kilometers) per hour. It is expected to turn toward the northeast with an increasing forward speed later today, and then move northeast at a faster speed on Wednesday and Thursday."
